The summer service between Dunedin and Auckland will be opened by the Te Anau on the 18th October, the Flora following a week later. Mr Hood, second officer of the Mawhera, is going 1 into the Haupiri in a similar position. Mr Sinclair, second officer of the Haupiri, will join the Penguin in a similar capacity. Mr 1/ncy, second officer of the Penguin, comes to Dunedin to join the Te Anau. TOKOMARU, FROM LONDON. By the 'Frisco mail, the local agents (Messrs Levin and Co) are advised of the following passengers booked for New Zealand by the Tokomuru, which left Plymouth on 3rd September for Wellington via Capetown and Hobart : — Misses Dick, Jensen, Myers (2), Williams, M'Bean, Cleverley, .Caston, Gaye, Mesdames Glaunell, M'Calluin, Peters, Pocock, Messrs Brady, Cook, M'Lachlan, Fairley, Finch, Flowton, Gunn, Greig, Hanson, Hughes, Mack, Le Mesuvier, Norris, Olseu, Wilson, Pocook, Seigel, Thwaite, Whall, Master Pocock. There are also on board 73 passengers for Capetown and four for Australia. The Tokomaru is due in Wellington on 24th October. RANGATIRA, FOE LONDON. The Shaw, Savill and Albion (Jo's cargo steamer Eangatira sails for London via Teneriffe this afternoon with a full freight, comprising wool, tallow, meat, &c. The cargo shipped from this porr, is as follows :—7596: — 7596 earenses mutton, 787 quarters beef, 374 crates legs, 1032 bales wool and skins, 1 do rabbitskins, 1 do rags, 855 cases gum, 118 casks tallow, 21 do pelts, 113 do casings, 1500 cases preserved meats, 1254 bales hemp, 27 do leather, 103 do basils, 30 pkgs general, and a quantity of bullion. The vessel has on board some 1400 tons coal for consumption on the Homeward voyage, which is expected to occupy about 51 days. THE VANCOUVER SERVICE. The local office is advised that the EMS Miowera left Victoria (8.C.) on 23rd September for Wellington via Honolulu and Suva, with 446 bags mails. She is due in Wellington on 15th October, and will sail same day for Sydney. The Elingamite brought the following passengers from Dunedin and Lytteiton this afternoon :— Misses Butler, Good, Clarkson, Blythe, JeJfery (2), Macdonald. Ash, M'Leod, Webb, Ritchie, Mesdames Macdonald and children, Cnffin, Rule, M'Leod, Eitchie, De Silva, Cowie, Comerford, Pye, Hoskiu, Wigley, Henshnw, Henry, Burke and infant, Cooper and child, Clarkson, Routley, Harris, Walworth, Colonel Hoskin, Messrs Pye, Blythe, White and family, Eeunert, Marryatt, Ohilel, Nixon (2), Ritchie, Pryor, Rogen, Bissett, De Silva, Brownlie, Law, M'Millan, Brown, Hall, Askew, Mark, Forrester, Wigley, M'Nicoll, Wagstaff, Allen, Henshaw, Vivian, Philps, Price, Burke, Clarkson, Williams, Davis, Routley, Eock, Willis, Chambers, Skilton, Master Price. Her cargo consists of 124 tons for Wellington and 998 tons for other ports. By the 'Frisco mail Messrs Johnston and Co, local agents, are advised that the ship Oamaru, Captain Fullerlou, which left Liverpool on 30th July, has on board 1334 tons for Wellington and a balance for Dunediu. The Westralia left Sydney at 7 pni yesterday for Wellington via Auckland and the East Coast, with 1050 tons cargo (140 tons being for Wellington) and 101 passengers. She has nlso two horses for Auckland. The steamer is due here to-morrow week. Mr Battersby, formerly second officer of the Blenheim, is now chief officer of the ship Pleione, which arrivod at Dunodin a few days ago from London, and Mr Thorliss, late third officer of the Crusnder, is second officer. When the Pleione was off Kerguelen Land on 28th August she met a heavy gale from the westward, with terrific seas, which broke on board, smashed the starboard gig, flooded the decks, and filled the forecastle, compelling her to heave to for 43 hours. Thence she had a continuation of similar weather all across the Southern Ocean. Private advices received by the "Frisco mail state that Captain Mayoss, late of the Tongariro, is coming out in command of the Euapehu, which left London on the 17th September for Wellington via Capetown and Hobart ; also that Messrs Cornwall, second officer of the Waimate, and Forbes, second officer of the Kaikoura, have exchanged vessels.
