THE LATE PREMIER BYRNES.
[press association.] y Brisbane, 28th September. The funeral of the late Hon. T. J. Byrnes, Premier of Queensland, will take place tomorrow morning. The Ministers and the Leader of the Opposition will be the pall-bearers. (Received September 29, 9.45 a.m.) • Brisbane, This Day. In both branches of the Legislature sympathetic references were made to the deceased Premier's family, and a resolution of condolence was carried, after which the Houses adjourned out of respect to the memory of Mr. Byrnes. Messages of sympathy have been received from the Premiers of the various colonies, including Mr. Seddon, and also from all parts of the colony. NEW ZEALAND'S SYMPATHY. The Premier has sent the following cablegram to the Acting - Premier of Queensland :—": — " Acting - Premier, Brisbane. —On behalf of the people of this colony I beg to tender heartfelt sympathy to Mr. Byrnes's relatives, yourself, colleagues, and the people of Queensland on the death of one who has rendered such "distinguished services to his country. It is sad that a life so full of promise should have been so suddenly cut short in the midst of its usefulness. — R. J. Seddon." „
