He intended to go to Lytteltou, but got inio the Southern express and went as far as Rakaia, returning by the first train from that station. When near Islington he went from one carriage to another and fell off the platform. He came over from $ydue} r in the Mararoa. Auckland, This Day. George Smith, aged 65, a gardener, of Ponsonby, dropped dead while returning home from work last night. Captain Steel, an old Waikato settler, aged 70, died suddenly. He commanded a company of the 4th Waikato Militia during the war.
