At. 10-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court \\ . 11. Dobson, for tailing to comply with a maintenance order, was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended for one week. E. Porotti pleaded guilty to a charge of having left a horse unattended, and was fined 2s Od and costs, 7s. Henry Carter, alias Triggs, charged with having in February last broken and entered the residence of Charles D. Mackintosh and stolen various articles of clothing, was committed for trial. Bail was allowed— himself in £GO, and two sureties of £30 each. On a further charge of having stolen a quantity of rope, valued at 6s, the property of Allan Smith, Carter was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. An important public meeting is announced to be held in the Exchange Hall to-night to consider the Liquor Bill brought before the House by Mr. Millar, M.U.R. We are informed that considerable feeling has been aroused throughout the colony on the part of the Temperance section of the community against those who voted against the second reading of the Bill introduced by Mr. Smith on behalf of tho New Zealand Alliance. Macdonald, Wilson <fe Co. publish full details of the sale of superior household furniture, &c, to be held at Fitzroy House, No. 152, Cuba-street, on Wednesday. Tho sale will commence at ] .30 sharp, starting in the drawing-room. Special attention is directed in the advertisement to tho magnificent piano by Scliwechten, whioh is to be sold. On Friday next, at 2 o'clock, the firm's usual horse sale at Sinclair's Stables will be held, entries for which may be made at the yards or with tho auctioneers. That all things in this life must oorao to an end soon or late is one of the truths daily borne in upon us. It is brought home to us in the present instance by tho announcement in to-night's Post that tho Grand Keorganising Sale which has drawn thousands of customers to spend their money frooly since the opening day, will closo, positively and absolutely, on Saturday, 30th July, at 10 p.m., which is thus advertised as the last day of tho sale at To Aro House. There being 110 hopo of an extension of the timo, in spite of the fact that daily crowds still throng tho warehouse, it only remains for our readers to make the most of tho opportunities remaining.
