» [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchuech, 23rd July. Mr. A. F. Talbot has been elected a member of the Conciliation Board. Twenty bootmakers out of employment have put down their names as applicants for work at the Labour Bureau. This Day. The old-established firm of Trent Bros, has been compelled to suspend payment. The firm was established in 1863, and for 35 years carried on business as chicory, coffee, and spice manufacturers, and general merchants. General sympathy is expressed with the firm iv its misfortune. A private meeting of the creditors will be held next Monday, when it is hoped some satisfactory arrangement will be made. Auckland, This Day. A young man named Harold Rayner, son of the late Captain Rayner, of the Waikato Militia, has received serious injuries in the leg and foot through the accidental discharge of a companion's gun.
