♦ [PEESS ASS'OCIITION.] Maeton, 19th July. A large meeting of farmers was held to-day to consider the low price of wheat in comparison with the high price of flour. Mr. J. Howard, of Westoe, contended that wheat was 3d per bushel cheaper in this province than in the South. The meeting appointed a committee to ascertain if sufficient support can be obtained for the purchase or erection of a flourmill. Christchuech, 19th July. Philip Mohr, licensee of the Provincial Hotel, was to-day fined £5 and costs for supplying liquor to a drunken person on Sunday, 26th June. The license was endorsed. Auckland, This Day. An appeal has been made by Miss Haselden against her removal from the position of headmistress of the Kauaeranga Girls 1 School, Thames, and the Auckland Branch of the Educational Institute nominated its President (Mr. R. D. Stewart) as its representative on the Court of Appeal. The Board, however, objects to the appoiutmeut ofa the ground that Air. Stewart, as a teacher in its employ and also as President of the Institute is disqualified from acting. Should tb» Institute, decline to appoint another representative the Board will ask tho Supreme Court to set aside the appointment.
