♦ RESTRICTIONS UPON CHINESE. [PItESR ASSOCIATION.] Melbourne, 18th July. Owing to the strict/ie.'s of the authorities in enforcing the Chinese Restriction Act, the shipping companies are refusing to carry Chinese passengers unless convinced there will be no quehtiorj as to their right of admission into Victoria. Sydney, 18th July. H.M.S. Royalist has sailed for Pitcairn ' Island, via Suva, where she will pick up the Commission appointed to enquire into the recent murder.
