' In tho matter of a Bill intituled an Act to authorise WILLIAM M'LEAN (iv such Bill and herein referred to as the promoter) to use and hire for uso Light Locomotives in Streets and Roads. "T^TOTICE is hereby given that application AJk is intended to be made at the next session of the General Assembly of New Zealand for leave to briug in a Bill to authorise the promoter and his assigns and licensees to use and hire for use any vehicle propelled by mechanical power which unladen is under three tons in weight, either used alone or for tho purpose of drawing one vehicle, and no more, of such weight that tho combined weight ot the two when unladen shall not exceed four tons, such vehicle , beinc; 1 so constructed that no smoke or visible vapour is emitted therefrom, except from, some temporary or accidental cause. Copies of tho Bill will be deposited at the office of the Examiner of Standing Orders on or before the commencement of the session, and may also be had upon application to the undersigned. It is intended to amend the law in favour of tbe promoter so that ho may use vehicles as before described, subject only to the enactments, rules, or regulations affecting vehicles generally, and to exempt such locomotives used or hired by the promoter or his licensoes from the provisions of the Police Offences Acts, IS9O and 1894, and all other provisions regulating the use of traction engines, but subject to the provisions of the said Bill for tho making of regulations by the Govemor-in-Council regulating tho keeping and uso of petroleum and inflammable liquids or fuel intended to be used for such light locomotives, and exempting tho same from the law at present regulating the same.
