"VTEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS. WELLINGTON-NAPIER DISTRICT. QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY, 24th MAY, 189 S. HOLIDAY EXCURSION TICKETS, at rates 2d per mile Ist Class, Id per mile 2nd Class (minimum, ds and 2.s respectively, mileage counted one way only), will bo issued from any station to any station on Welling-ton-Napier-New Plymouth Section (excepting whore ordinary fare is less than minimum excursion fare) from Saturday, 21st, to Tuesday, 24th May, availablo for return up to and including Tuesday, 31st May, 1898. _ NOTE.— In no case will the through excursion fare via Government line exceed tho through excursion fare via Wellington and Manawatu Company's line, provided that — (a) The fares from Wellington, Silverstream, and intermediate stations, to Ashurst, Makino-road, Foxton, and intermediate stations, shall not be less than the fares to Woodville. (b) The fares from Makino-road, Foxton, Ashurst, aud intermediate stations, to Silverstream, Wellington, and intermediate stations, shall not be less than the fares-, from Woodville to any of tho latter stations. The period for which these tickets aro available for return journey may be extended for a further period of 14 days upon payment of difference in value between the ordinary single fare and half the excursion fare. Application must be made at station to which excursion ticket was issued, and before expiry of same, and the unused portion of excursion ticket be handed in. The journey may be broken at any station at which the train is timed to stop after a distance of 25 mileS has been travelled. Note.— On QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY, Excursion Tickets, whether outward or return, from Te Aro, Upper Hutt, and intermediate stations, to Feathorston, Masterton, and intermediate stations, including Greytown, will not bo available by North Mail Tkain (leaving Te Aro at 7 a.m. and Wellington at 7.15 a.m.). Likewise, Excursion Tickets, whether outward or return, from Mastertou. Fentlierston, and intermediate stations, including Greytown. will not be available .by South Mail, Twain (leaving Masterton at 3.57 p.m.). An Excursion Train, by which sucli tickets will be available, will run between Te Aro and Masterton. leaving Te Aro at 7.53 a.m., Wellington at 8.5 a.m., and return leaving Masterton at 5.10 p.m., Featkerstou at 6.19 p.m. CHEAP RETURN TICKETS (available on day of issue only;, as obtainable on Saturdays and Sundays between Te Aro. Upper Hutt, and intermediate stations, will be issued, in either direction, on 24th May, 1898. TRAIN ARRANGEMENTS (Te Aro- Woodville line). The following ordinary trains will not run :— 7.40 a.m. Masterton to Cross Creek, (5.30 p.m. Upper Hutt to Te Aro: 5.20 p.m. Te Aro to Lower Ilutt, 8.40 p.m. A'e Aro to Upper Hutt, and 9.15 p.m. Lower Hutt to Te Aro. The train usually leaving Lower Hutt for Te Aro at 8.12 a.m. will leave at 8.0 a.m., and will run correspondingly earlier than usual throughout. The train usually leaving Upper Hutt for Te Aro at 7.55 a.m. will leave at 7.45 a.m. ; from Lower Hutt to Te Aro it will run as usual. All other ordinary trains will run as usual. SPECIAL TRAINS, stopping if required at intermediate stations, will run as under :—: — Between Te Aro and Masterton— Te Aro depart 7.53 a.m., Wellington 5.5, Lower Hutt 5.35, Upper Hutt 9.15, Featber&ton 11.15, Carterton 12.3 p.m., Masterton arrive 12.30 p.m. Masterton depart (on return journey) 5.10 p.m., Carterton 5.38, Featherston 6.19, Upper Hutt 8.52, Lower Huifc 9.35, Wellington arrive 10.4, Te Aro arrive 10.15. NOTE.— Special trains to and from Greytown will connect with this train on both Norr,h and South journeys, leaving Greytown at 11.18 a.m. and 5.4S p.m., and arriving at Greytown (on return journey) at 11.44 a.m. and G. 13 p.m. Between To Aro and Upper Hutt — The ordinary 6.5 p.m. tram Te Aro to Lower Hutt t» ill run to Upper Hutt, arriving there at 7.45 p.m. A special train will leave Upper Hutt for Te Aro at 6.5 p.m. Between To Aro and Lower Hutt — Te j Aro depart 9.5 p.m. for Lower Hutt. j Lower Hutt depart 10.15 p.m. for Te Aro. Te Aro' depart 11.5 p.m. for Lower Hutt. On Queen's Birthday goods traffic will be suspended and all goods-sheds closed.
