THE GOTHIC
On 19th March the White Star liner Gothic sailed from Plymouth on her twelfth vojnveto New Zealand, making Wellington and Lyttelton her first ports of call in the colony. The passengers booked by the vessel were a:, follows :— For Wellington : Saloon— Misr.cs Doi-iuan, Tennaut, Fullevton-Smith (2), Mesdames Doiumn, Grove, Fullerton-Smith, Suvtees, Key Cameron, Messrs Cosh and valet, Dor man (i), Grove, Openshaw, Mather, Rose, Saunders, "Wilson, Thompson, Thomas; steerage— Misses Morgan, Herzog, Mrs Herzog, Messrs Ansell, Brown, Campbell, Dunn, Chen-ay, Diivie, Sole, Schoflehl, Eeakes, Morgan, M'lutyre, Hunter, llerzog, Maslein Kerzog (2). l<V>r other ports : Saloon— Alices Sim, Liiullaw, M'Lean (2), Herbert, Gieen, Clark, (Jhnstie, Axou, Mesdames Gale, Stewart, Mickle, Gill, Macindoe, M'Lean, Majors Fox (2), Drs Mickle, Lee, Gale, Christie, Messrs Kollison, M'Leau ; steerage, 54. There were also 106 passengers of all classes booked lor South Africa and Australian ports. The Gothic is uut; 111 Wellington on :Jnd May.

About 07 tons transhipments ex Euterpe were brought up from Dunedin by tho Elingannte. " It never rains but. it pours," aud the P. and O. Co has had a run of bud luck of late. The strandiusj of the China lias been followed by an accident to the company's steamer Borneo. As that vessel was leaving Yokohama on 20Mi February she wits run into on the starboard quarter by the Japanese steamer 'Wnyomaru. Both vessels were seriously damaged, and the Borneo uas expected to be detained in poi't 21 days for repairs. A cable messtigc received iv Sydney a few days ago stated that the Federal Navigation Co, owners of the Cornwall, Maori King, Celtic King, Devon, and other large steamers, intend to lay tho Celtic King on the berth at Ztev/ York as the pioneer of a regular line between the two countries. At the time of the barque G. M. Tucker grounding while being towed through the open span of the^Glebe Island Uudge, Sydney, which caused all biidge traiiic to bo subtended, she was drawing Uft forward and 14ft Sin nit. After remaining in this position for a dny, the vessel was lightened and flouted oil.
