THE JOHANNESBURG MURDER.

«. [press association.] Capetown, 15tli March. In reference to the murder of Mr. Woolf Joel, a relative of Mr. Barney Barnato, by a man named Ludwig Wertheim, it appears that Wertheim submitted to Mr. Joel and Mr. Strange, Mr. Joel's manager, a scheme for redressing the grievances of the Uitlanders in the Transvaal, and when the money to carry out the scheme was refused him Wertheim snatched J oel's revolver from his desk, exclaiming, " You know too much, aud must both die." Strange immediately fired at Wertheim, hitting him in the mouth. The latter then shot Mr. Joel in the eye, killing him. He also fired twice at Mr. Strange before the clerks in the office burst open the door.
