AQUATICS.
The Appeal Council of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association met last night, Mr. W. H. Field in the chair. In answer to a further appeal from the Dunedin Aamateur Boating Club, the Council decided that it must uphold its former decision that T. Wright is not eligible to row for the club. A like decision wan come to ou an appeal from the Port Chalmers Rowing Club on behalf of Bonnor, who was stroke of the winning crew at a regatta on the occasion of the Waikare's trip to the Sounds, and who had consequently been declared to have lost his amateur status, but had been recommended to apply for reinstatement at the annual meeting of the Association. The club pointed out that the Association's decision would prove disastrous to the club, as Bonnor was stroke of its maiden crew, and was one of its champion pair. During the discussion on the Bonnor case it was suggested that the difficulty might be got over by the club applying for a reinstatement. It was considered that the case was a hard one, and as Bonnor was barred in October last the Association at its meeting on the nigbt before the regatta might see its way to reverse the decision of last year's Appeal Council.
