Wind— Between north-west and west and south, at all places northward of Kaikoura and Hokilikn., aud between west and south and south-east at all other places Barometer — Eise everywhere Sea— Heavy on all western coast, and on east coast southward of East Cape Tides— High on all western coast of North Island nnd southward from East Cape j moderate at all other places Southerly gales, with much colder weather, are to he expected in all parts of the country SVNOPSrS OV LAST 21 HOURS Falling barometer everywhere until ahout midnight, and since then it'has risen n little at places southward of Timara and Queeustown. There has been a heavy north-west gale, with rain, at most places southward of Hokitikaand Lyttelton, and strong westerly winds from thence southward.
