ST. PAUL'S SCHOOLROOM.
A great alteration and a decided improvement has been effected in lower Sydneystreet by the erection of a new building— St. Paul's Schoolroom— in place of the old structure known to many in Wellington's earlier days as "Mowbray's School." Tho old building, it will be remembered, was destroyed by fire. The new schoolroom is 63 feet by 40 feet, and 26 feet high, and round it are half a dozen classrooms, two of which are so fitted that they may be, used as dining-rooms. In one room has been placed a gas cooking apparatus for use at " socials " and like gatherings. Messrs. Clere, Fitzgerald, & Richmond were the architects, and Messr?. Clark & Thompson the builders, the sub-contractors being— plumbing, Mr. W. P. Adams; electrician, Mr. E. B. Toomath ; bricklayer, Mr. John Daly. The opening ceremony was taking place as we went to press this afternoon, the Bishop of Wellington conducting. This evening a concert, under Mr. Robert Parker's direction, will be held, to be followed by a dramatic performance.
Mr. Joh. E. Lindberg, the Cheap Draper, C üba-street, advortises numerous cheap lines, and also promises a Christinas bonus to every cuntomor to-morrow.
