Taubman-Goldie, Governor of the Royal Niger Company, West Africa, interviewed with regard to the despatch of two British gunboats to Bonssa to support the British claims to both banks of the Niger, and the French newspaper comments thereupon, Btated that the assumption of the British protectorate over the Boussa district was intimated to France in January, 1895, and France then raised no protest against the British action.
