COLONIAL PREMIERS' DOINGS.
MR. SEDDON ON NEW ZEALAND'S MINING LAWS.. [PBESS ASSOCIATION;] / London, 24th July. The Right Hon. R. J. Seddon delivered an address" before ,the AuAtraliiUi Chamber of Mines. He described the mining legislation of New Zealand, and said the Government had deemed it desirable to define the relative positions of owners aud prospectors, and an Act passed last Session had met tbe difficulty fairly*. He' hoped Londoners would believe that 'the Government had done what it believed to be fair and honest. The relations between employers and meu in New Zealand were all that could be desired, strikes being unknown. The overloading of capital alone checked ttye mining enterprise of the colony. Sir John and Lady Forrest have sailed on their return journey to West Australia. A large number of West Australians gave them a hearty send-off.
