A somewhat peculiar divorce case *wa dealt with to-day, the parties being Georgi Samuel Sankey (petitioner) and Elizabetl Sankey (respondent) and Ross Trever (co respondent). The petitioner was married ii May, 1885, and has three. children. He de posed that in 1895 Trever stopped with hin and' his wife for 10 months at Mata Icana. 'His suspicions being '-aroused he warned Trever to leave. Trever die so, and Mrs. Sankey followed him. Treve: professed to be a doctor and hypnotist, an< the respondent, pretending to be ill, wai • attended by him. Respondent had nevei enquired about her children. Evidence wai given that the respondent and co-respondent who did not appear, were served with tin citation at; Lyttelton. Judge Conollj granted a decree nisi. It was, he said, ai extraordinary thing for a woman to leave ; respectable home. It looked as if there wer< hypnotis.ni in the matter. Mr,,Mahony solicitor for the petitioner, said there was certainly, something peculiar. He under ■tood the parties were living in destitution.
