BUT IS BEATEN IN FIRING OFF. (Received July 24, 10 a.m.) London, 23rd July. In the match for the Daily, Telegraph 50guinea cup, open to all comers, and fired at the 600 yds range, 11 competitors made the highest possible. Banks, of Christchurch, was amongst them, but was unsuccessful in firing off the tie. When those who scored 66 in the first stage of the St. George's Vase match came to fire off, Ballinger (Wellington), Howe (Wellington), and Richardson (Dunedin), failed to qualify for inclusion amongst the 100 to take part in .the final stage.
