W&AK. NERVELESS, SUFF£EIIG , CiilM^S ■! A NINETEENTH CENTURY DANGER! MOTHERS ARE TOO DELICATE ABOUT ADVISING THEIR DAUGHTERS. PLAIN, SENSIBLE TALKS WITH THEM OFTEN SAVE YEARS OF SUFFERING.

DOING A DAY'S WASHING! ♦— ' — HARDSHIPS MET WITH IN COLD WEATHER. HANDS IN HOT WATER, THEN IN COLD. GETTING HEATED, THEN GOING OUT OF DOORS IN ALL SORTS OF WEATHER/ COUGHS,. COLDS, & RHEUMATISM THE INEVITABLE RESULTS. In this inclement weather, when so many are suffering from colds, coughs, and rheumatism, the story of Mrs. Mary Brown, of 71, Simmons-street, Enmore, will be read with.devouriug interest. When our reporter cMed at this lady's residence, he found her ousily engaged at the wash-tub, what she called doing a " day' washing." It was indeed difficult to belie y // \ by the amount of " elbow grease " she laid into her labours that this interesting personage had lately been informed by medical men that hers was' a case which would probably develop into chronic rheumatism. " I have' called, 'Mrs. Brown," said nmr reporter, "to ascertain the truth of the rumour that has reached us of your having recently suffered from a severe attack of rheumatism."

AN AUNT'S ADVICE. BROUGHT A YOUNG LADY OUT OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH. INFLUENZA CONQUERED. A REMARKABLE CASE THAT VIVIDLY SHOWS THE WONDERFUL HEALTH - RESTORING POWERS OF DR. WILLIAMS' PINK PILLS. (From the Orangeville Banner.) There is no doubt at all that many people are prejudiced' against " proprietary niedioines, and equally no doubt many look upon the testimonials published as much in the nature M an exaggerated^ ■ puff.',' If^ the Banner had been tinctured with this feeling, it has, so far as one medicine is concerned, had Its, doubts removed. Werefer^Dr. Williams' Pink Pills, concerning the curative qualities of which strong xlainwhave been made, and proofs advanced in their support which seemed equally strong. But it js when one comes across in their own locality a case almost rivalling any that has been olade public that doubt disappears, and conviction follows. Such a case the Banner came across and investigated, and now gives the facts* , The case is that of Miss Sarah Langford, an estimable young lady, who resides in the neighbourhood of Camilla. We were told she had brought near to death's door, and had been restored to health through the agency of Dr. Williams' Pink Pills. We decided, however, to cast hearsay aside, and investigate for ourselves. We found Miss Langford the picture df health and good spirits, at her pleasant home in Camilla. In response to our enquiries as to her illness and the cause of her recovery, she expressed her willingness to satisfy our curiosity, and, as

she added, relate her experience for the good of others afflicted as she was. Her story, very briefly, was as follows : — " I had influenza in the spring of 1894. I did not seem to get over the effects of the attack, and as the summer progressed became weak and listless. Any kind of work became a burden to me. After pumping a pail of water from the well I would have to stand to hold my hands over my heart for a moment dr so, it would nutter so violently. I could not go upstairs without difficulty, and towards the last would have to rest ou the' steps, and when I got> to the top lie down until I could recover my breath. I became a mere skeleton ; my -cheeks were like wax, and my lips colourless. I lost all appetite, and my meals often went utitasted. Medicine seemed to have no effect upon me. I was getting weaker all the time, and at last began to give up hope of recovery. My parents weifej of course, in great' distress, and I knew by the looks and actions of friends who .called to see me that they'thought I. was doomed to an early death. Then a dear lady friend' died, and I managed, out of love for her, to drag myself to her funeral. The sensation of seeing her laid away, believing that I would soon follow her, was a strange one. Shortly after this an aunt of mine, Mrs. Wm. Henderson, of ' Toronto, came to, visit at our place. My condition troubled her very muohj and she insisted on my trying Dr. Williams' Pink Pills. To please her I consented, but with little hope of any good result. The effect, however, was wonderful, and a pleasing surprise to me. I soon began to feel more cheerful, and seemed to feel stronger. Then my appetite began to improve, and the colour return to riiy cheeks and lips. From that hour f Btea.diljrgaitie-d strength, and was soon enjoying my former excellent health, and I am "sincere in expressing my belief that to Dr. Williams' Pink Pills do I owe my recovery." Enquiry among neighbours corroborated Miss Langford's story as to her illness and remarkable recovery. In her case, at least, Dr. Williams' Pink Pills have given a striking proof that they possess wonderful merits.

" It ii quite true, but I am now happy to relate'that I feel as well as ever I did. I have been suffering on and off from rheumatism for the last five years, and the I slightest change in the weather used to give i me most awful twiuges. It chiefly affected ' my'arms, and I can assure you, sir, that it i took me a)l\my time to do my bair. As to lifting this flilb, that was a matter of sheer impossibility. If it had' not been for some of my friends I could never have gotten through my household duties. This complaint appeared to affect my eptfre system, and as to the money I have spent in doctors' advice and so-called remedies, why it makes me positively disgusted to think of. I began to think that if ny sufferings continued life was not worth living. I remember one day, as I was sitting dj the fire, and endeavouring to employ my tnind< by reading the Evening News, that an advertisement caught my eye headed ' Dr. Williams' Pink Pills for Pale People cures Rheumatism, Sciatica, &c.' Now^ having wasted so much money already, I was at first loth to try any more advertised medicines, but I thought in for a penny in for a pound, so I invested in three boxes of this specific." "I hope you were careful to ask for Dr. Williams' Pink Pills ?" " I took particular notice to do that, for I had read of so many worthless imitations that I was careful to ask for, and obtain, the genuine article." "We think it highly probable,'. Mrs. Brown', that before long some of the compounders of these worthless imitations will be spending time iri' seclusion, with the accompanying eccentricities- of dietf official garb, and escort." l - * " And, indeed, it would only serve them right. Brown (my husband) laughed at me when I told him I was going in for a course of Dr. Williams' Pink Pills, and said,' ' Oh, you are going to chuck away some more money, are you ?' " " I'said, ' Yes, I am,' and right glad am I that I ran the risk of ' chucking away some more money,' for I am happy to tell you that they have done me all the good iv the > world. Talk about the new woman ; why, I feel now a brand-new woman, and my husband only this morning said to me, '-We11,. -old girl, ; if you were 'off colour' a- few 'weeks ago,' you t certainly look the ' pink ' of perfection How. I suppose ii? is' your Pink Pills that have done it.' And so it is. Not only' have l lost my rheumatic pains, but my appetite has returned, and T can now enjoy my food. In fact, my appetite is 60 good that Brown says I will eat him out of house and home." " How taany boxes have you taken, Mrs. Brown ?" '

PALE AND SALLOW PACES. ♦ i DIZZINESS, SHORTNESS OF BREATH HEART PALPITATION, to/ This world is full of suffering and unhappiness. In every walk of life may be seen young girls, pale, sallow, and nerveless, the victims of troubles peculiar to their sex, from which they suffer in silence, and with the mistaken notion that there is no help for them. Their lives are made miserable by headaches, dizziness, palpitation of the heart, shortness of breath on the slightest exertion; an indisposition for either work or pleasure, and frequently a feeling that life is but a dreary burden scarcely worth preserving. To all such we say take hope ; there is a cure for your trouble, and it is within your power to be bright-eyed, rosy-cheeked, and happy. Dr. Williams' PINK PILLS for PALE PEOPLE will restore your lost colour, correct irregularities, and bring | back health and happiness. In proof of this , assertion, read the following testimony from those who have suffered and found renewed . health through this marvellous medicine. j

Mr. William Stoughton is a well-known and much esteemed farmer living in the vicinity of Barry vale, Renfrew, Ont. He is one of many who have reason to bless the day that Dr. Williams' Pink Pills were brought into his home, for they saved the life of his daughter. Mr. Stoughton says :— "In 1893, my daughter, then a picture of health and strength, went to, Ardock, North Dakota. In April of that year she caught a severe cold, which brought her to the verge of the grave. The cold was followed by headache, dizziness, and palpitation of the heart, and she became so pale and emaciated that her doctor there said she was going into consumption, and advised her return home. She had been under the doctor's cave for some months before this advice was given, and in February, 1894, she returned home. She was so weak as to be almost helpless, and we decided that the best tning to be' done was to send her to the Kingston Hospital, where she could have better treament than was possible in our country home. She remained for two months in the hospital, gradually growing weaker instead of stronger, and as it seemed to us that there was no hope of recovery, we brought her home. At this time she was so weak as to be ecarcelyfable to walk across a room, and was confined almost constantly to her bed. She was pale and terribly emaciated, had constant pain in her back and limbs, had literally no appetite, and was to all appearances gradually sinking. We had given up hope, for had not the best of-physicians failed to help her ? My wife and I, like a good many more, had read much of the cures wrought by the use of Dr. Williams' Pink Pills, and perhaps also, like many more, were somewhat sceptical. All else had failed, however, and we decided that perhaps Pink Pills were worth trying. Words cannot express how thankful we now are that we came to this decision. We got six boxes, and before they were all gone there was a decided improvement. Hope once more returned, and we procured another six boxes. She took them, and the story is now summed up in two words— was cured. She now feels neither pain nor ache ; her colour has returned : she is strong and, healthy, and does not now look likfe one who had ever seen a day's sickness. And this great change was brought about by the Use of twelve boxes of Dr. Williams' Pink Pills, after months of medical treatment had failed, and at a time when death was thought to be not far-off. Have we not, therefore, reason to spealc in the warmest terms of this great life-saving medicine ?"
