VICTORIA BOWLING CLUB.
The first annual meeting of the Victoria Bowling Club took place in the City Hotel last night, Mr. D. T, Stuart in the chair. The report complimented the members upon the excellence of their green, which would be in a fine condition next season. Thanks were due to Mr. Hueston, honorary secretary, to the donors of trophies, &c, and a special vote to the ladies who provided afternoon tea during the season. In moving the adoption of tho report, the Chairman said that their first season had been a short one, but from a social point of view a very successful one. Their green would be second to none in Wellington in a very short time. Mr. J. Townsend seconded the motion, which was carried. The following directors were elected^—' Messrs. B. M. Molineaux, F. Penty, D. T. Stuart, G. G. Schwartz, F. Townsend, W. Cable, C. Lamberg (all re-elected), H. F. Allsn, and E. C. Hamerton. Mr. W. J. Hueston was re-elected Hon. Secretary; Mr. H. *F. Allen, Hon. Treasurer; and Mr. J. Townsend, Hon. Auditor. Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs. Stuart (retiring President),
(retiring director), Hueston (Secretary), and Townsend 1 (Auditor). Four handsome silver badges, the gift of Mr. It. C. Hamorton, were presented to Messrs. Penty, Lamberg, Hanley, and Varcoq who had played best during the uuf ihed contest for the President's prize last season. The holders will have to meet all challengers ndxt season. Prizes for competition amongst members were also given by Mr. Penty (a. pair of bowls), and Mr. Stuart (a two-guinea prize.) A meeting of the directors was held immediately after the general meeting, when Mr. R. C. Hamerton was elected President, Mr. S. M. Molineuux Vice-President; and the following Committees elected : — Ground Committee — Messrs. Allen, Hamerton, Penty, and F. Townsend. Match Committee — Messrs. Penty, Lamberg, and Molineaux. Refreshment Committee— Messrs. D. T. Stuart and G. G. Schwartz.
