CRICKET.
The following are the correct batting and bowling averages of the Wellington Cricket Club second eleven for the past season : —
A valuable area of coal comprised in the Glen Dhu Estate, situate about seven miles from Mataura, will shortly be developed by a company. Prospecting shows that an immense "body of this coal, amounting to some millions of tons, exists iipon this property. A great quantity, by reason of its being only a few feet below the surface, can be mined at the unusually small cost of Is per ton. The quality, proved by practical test, is very good. The analysis of the coal by Mr. William Skey, Government Analyst, boars t'ais out.
