Mrs. Akerman, a widow, formerly resident at Timaru, New Zealand, has succumbed to burns received when her house at Kalgoorlie was destroyed by fire. The woman escaped, but returned to the burning building in search of her daughter, who was lying ill with typhoid fever. The daughter had in the meantime been removed, but the mother was unaware of this.
