? The annual meeting of the Wellington Guards was held last night in the Drmshed. Captain Paterson presided. Private C. H. Aaniodt, Secretar/, read ihe annual report, which stated that the company had had a good year financially and otherwise. The balance-sheet showed that the receipts bad been £267 18slld and the expenditure £250 7s 9d, leaving a oredit balance of £17 11s 2d, which with the year's capitation will leave the company with a good round sum for the ensuing year. The heaviest expenditure was £80 for uniforms and £35 for shooting. The company commenced the year with 63 men and -capitated for 60, which was the same number as the previous year. Three members joined during the year, but too late £or capitating. Some fine comments bad been made on the muster of the company at Government and special parades. The attendance prizes had fallen to Corporal Bould, Lance-Corporal Leslie, and Bugler Jenkius (all of whom had tied for first place), Bugler Butler, Privates Withington and Bolland, Corporal Thawley, LanceCorporal Ediuger, and Privates L. James and Nash. Sergeant Lacey's section had won the sectional prize for the Becond time. Owing to the bad weather at Easter the compauy was unable to go away, though 56 men turned up, willing to go. Shooting had been the strongest feature of the company, as its members had added fresh laurels to the corps. The following are the principal prize-winners for the year: — A class — Pvts. Hale, A. Ballinger, B. Love, C. Aamodt ; B class — Lance-Corpl. Edinger, Pvt. Kitchen, Corpl. Homer; C class— Sergt. Love and Pvts. E. James and Withington; bronze medal — Pvt. B. Love; Seely cup and gold medal — Lance-Corpk Leslie. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following members of the Shooting Committee were re-elected : — Sergt. Lacey, Lance-Corpls. James and Edinger, and Pvts. M'Askill and Hale. Lauce-Corpl. Leslie was elected in place of Sergt. Love who ! declined to act.. Sergt. Jones and Pvt. Raven were elected auditors, and Pvt. C. H. [ Aamodt was re-elected Secretary. ' It was decided lhat the annual shooting competitions should take place at an early date, and the annual ball probably early in July. A Government inspection parade of lac Guards took place last night. There were about 50 members present under the command of Captain Paterson. Lieut.-Colonel Newall inspected the corps, and referred in complimentary terms to the smart and tidy appearance of its members.
