MINING NEWS. INCREASE IN THE THAMES OUTPUT. [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS 'ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, 13th May.

The Tararu Creek Company crushed 180 tons of quartz for bullion valued at £255. The gold output for the Thames goldfields for the past month shows an increase on .the previous month of over £2500. This is all the more satisfactory as there was a decrease this month in the yield from the Waihi and Waitekauri Companies' mines, but as new vats are being placed at these mines, there should be larger returns when they are fairly at work. Two points are worthy of special ] note this month. One is that the KurunuiCaledonian lias entered the list of gold producers, and the other is the satisfactory return obtained from the first run of the Woodstock Company's new crushing plant. The Talisman and several other English companies' new batteries are now approaching completion, so that shortly there should be a marked increase in the monthly gold return.
