H. Tizard, second engineer of the Northern Co's steamer Gairloch, will be pleased to hear that he has been appointed chief engineer of the Bellinger The Aorere brought from Picton 250 sacks of produce for Patea, and 2UO for Wellington Capt Vickerman, of the Waverley, which steamer is to tow the scow Bata to West Wanganui, anticipates being ready to leave port about midnight. The weather, however, promises to be none too favourable, and it is likely the vessels will not sail before to-morrow *An accident to No 2 -winch of the Matatua necessitated discharging operations being carried on all lost night by the aid of the wharf crone. The damage was repaired by Cable & Co. . Six hundred tons of produce are going forward to Northern ports by the Anglian from Soutli, and for Australian ports 300 tons This morning the Stormbird was taken up on the Patent Slip for cleaning and painting The overhaul to the Kahu will not be complied , j oefnre Wednesday next The arrangement for the Hawea to call ;n at Wellington on her way from Lyttelton to Auckland has been cancelled. She will proceed direct to Auckland from the Southern port About Monday next the Pukaki leaves Westport ¦with coal for this port Messrs Levin & Co were advised this morning that the Quoen of the South, which took 700 sheep from Foxfon and Picton, and is to make another trip between the two ports with a similar number, was unable to cross the Fostton bar outwards this morning, and it is doubtful if she will get out thia evening Captain Clark, of the Opawa, reports that the Wairau bar has improved, but the river is very shallow. Captain Kckford, who has been indisposed, expects to resume duty next week
