CRICKET. TO THE EDITOR.

Sib — I see by this morning's Times that the Third Class Championship Committee decided on Monday night to bracket Johnsonville with Karori after the former winning the Championship. Why not bracket us with D Battery or Excelsior, who have not won a match, as bracket us with a club which has lost more matches than Johnsonville ? How Mr. Dasent and Mr. Warren could arrive at such a decision I am at a loss to find out. Johnsonville has played the whole season with only one defeat, that was by Wellington College. Karori has two defeats with Johnsonville and Thorndon, but if one defeat counts the fame as two defeats, then Johnsonville must be wrong. To put Karori on a level with Johnsonville, Johnsonville would have to play another match and get defeated. The Johnsonville Club has been put to considerable expense, last season laying down an ashpalt pitch and procuring matting to promote the interest of cricket at the request of the above committee, and now that we have fairly won the championship, I cannot understand why they should try to raise a quibble to rob us of our just rights. If the Karoris are dissatisfied at our success we will play them a day match at Karori on Queen's Birthday. Let honour go to where honour is due. I am, &c, ' ' ■ M. Atkinson, Hon. Sec. J.C.C. Johnsonville, 11th May.
