In the House of Commons Sir Charles Tupper declared that the discriminating clause of the new Tariff Bill was illegal. The Canadian newspapers and the public warmly approve the Bill. London, 28th April. In the House of Commons Mr. Chamberlain stated that the Government cordially appreciated Canada's friendly spirit in giving preference to English products. Belgium has protested against the discriminatory character of the Bill, as being opposed to the commercial treaty between Britain and Belgium.
