THE SCANDALOUS STATE OF THE INDIAN ARMY.
[PBISS ASSOCIATION.] London, 2nd April. In view of the alarming prevalence of contagious diseases in the Indian army disclosed in a recent departmental report, Lord George Hamilton, Secretary of State for the Indian Department, proposes that the cantonment rules applying to cholera and smallpox shall be extended to all contagious diseases. If the proposal is not adopted, other measures will be taken to increase the powers of the medical officers to protect the troops.
