[BY TEXEGBAPH — PKEI3S ASSOCIATION.] Chbistchurch. Tins Dat. The sixth round of the Championship / played yesterday, resulted as follows : — Mellor v. Hookham, Falkner's Counter Gambit on the Kipg*s Gambit. — Hookham resigned 53rd move. Mason v. Edwards, Centre Gambit.— Edwards resigned on the 29th move. Meldrura v. Cocks, Queen's Gambit declined. — Meldrum resigned on the 41st move. Grierson v. Pleasants, Ruy Lopez opening.— Grierson resigned on the 38th move. Gifford v. Barnes, Scotch opening. -- Drawn. Anderson had the bye. This morning Anderson badly defended a Buy Lopez opening with Barnes, and the latter won after a little over an hour's play. Hookbam declined a King's Gambit played by PleasantSj and the former, getting into diflicultie?, resigned on ths 17th move. A closely contested game took place between Cocks and Edward*, but the former got a pawn passed, which iihould give him a win. Gifford and Mellor, and Grierson and Mason, had up to the luncheon adjournment played even games, ',
