THE VOLUNTEERS.
There was a "company parade of the Petone Naval? last night under Lieut.Commanding Kirk and Lieutenant Fanning. Arrangements were made for the annual volley-firing to be taken by Lient.-Colonel Newall next Saturday moruing and afternoon ; and recruits will he exercised with blank ammunition on Friday evening at the Petoue Drillshed. In the competition of the junior shots of the Wellington .Navals for Mr. R. Turnbull's trophy on Saturday, Gunner M'Ginity got his second leg-in with the score of 54 points. •■• The City Rifles will commence volleyfiring on Monday morning at the Polhill Griilly range. Lient.-Commanding Kirk, of the Petone Naval Artillery, has received an intimation odt' his success in the theoretical part of his examination as commanding officer, which he underwent a few days ago.
