MR. WILFORD AND CATHOLIC SCHOOLS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir — Mr. Wilford has expressed so many different opinions on the same subject at different places that even such ardent supporters of his as Mr. Kells may be excused for getting a little muddled. At Khandallah Mr. Wilford was "no Prohibitionist," though he " was in favour of local option," and would "support any measure in this direction." Elsewhere Mr. Wilford " would be no party to any alteration in the existing law." I have several witnesses who are prepared to swear they heard Mr, Wilford declare himself in favour of State aid to Catholic schools at both the last and at this contest for the Suburbs. He would also " favour the introduction of the Scripture Text Book into public schools." As Mr. Wilford's opinions change with the opinions of the district he happens for the moment to be speaking in, bis devotees may be pardoned if they sometimes fail to overtake his movements. Perhaps a portable phonograph would meet the necessity. It might at all events save the aforesaid eager aspirant for office (I mean Parliament) any little embarrassment as to what his very last opinions really were. i : - I am, &0., A. H. Gibson. Crof tb,nj 26th November.
