MR. ATKINSON ON THE PREMIER. TO THE EDITOR.

Sic— With reference to the letter of Mr. A. E. Atkinson, I wish to say that, politics apart, I strongly object to candidates discussing the personal characteristics of other public men in the way Mr. Atkinson has done as regards the Hon. Mr. Seddon. This lowers the tone of public life, and, in the case of a much younger man speaking of an elder man, is an impertinence. That other newspapers speak in similar or worse terms of other public men will scarcely he pleaded as an excuse by one who writes so freely of " moral grandeur." I am, &c. An Electoe.
