ELECTION NOTES.
The City candidat.es appear to be rather shy of nominating. Mr. JDuucan's, so far, has been the only nomination rocsived, and that was withdrawn again this morning. Mr. Atkinson is to speak at the Moles-worth-street Wesleyau Schoolroom . to-mor-row evening, and at the Clyde-quay Infant School on Friday evening. Mr. F. H. Fraser will address a meeting of women at the Rechabile Hall to-morrow afternoon, and similar meetings at the Molesworth-street Wesleyan Schoolroom on Thursday and the Webb-street Primitive Methodist Schoolroom on Friday. Mr. H. A. Field has addressed meetings at Wereroa (Levin) and Paikakariki, receiving votes of thanks and confidence in both places, in the former instance moved by Mr. A. Harvey and seconded by Mr. Mantell, and in the latter moved by Mr. Mackay and seconded by Mr. Gibson. Mr. P. Bartholomew pre.«ided over the Weveroa meeting, and Mr. F. W. Smith at Paikakariki. Mr. Field will speak at Paremata to-night, and his further programme is advertised. Dunedin, This Day. The Rev. Edward Walker, who is organising agent for the New Zealand Alliance, will be a candidate for Waikato on the Independent Liberal-Prohibition ticket. He leaves for Auckland immediately.
