CBIMINAL SESSIONS. Ybstbbdat Aptebnoon and To-day. (Before his Honour the Chief Justice.) THE MABTEBTON ABORTION CHABGE. The hearing of the charge against Mary Ann Sayer of having procured abortion on Eva Smith at Masterton, on 13th October last, was continued after we went to press yesterday. The evidence for tbe prosecution was that at Mrs. Smith's request accused performed an operation which had the desired effect. Evidence was also given that accused went to perform an operation, upon another girl, whose mother, however, interfered and prevented her from carrying out the intention. The jury retired at 6 o'clock, but not being able to agree to a verdict, were locked up for the night. They were still unable to agree this morning, and were consequently discharged. Accused will be tried again before a new jury next week.
