Evening Post Office. Saturday Afternoon, The Customs duties colieoted at the port of Wellington for the weok ending to-day amounted to £5032 2s 3d. Beer. £141 15s 6d. Messrs Kdwaids and M'Keatn report wages for last week aa follows: — Harried couples, £70 to £90 1 oarpenten, 10s i brioklayera, 12s; blacksmiths, 9s to 10s ; painters and glaziers, 8i i;o 9s 4d ; plumbers and gaintters, 9s to 10s ; itoremen, 42s to 60s] draymen, 42s to 50s ; ooachmeu, 80s to 355 ; rrooms, 85s to 35s gardeners, 6s to 8s farm bands, 15b to 255 ; milkmen, 25s to 27s hotelmen 20t to 40s i barmaids, 25s to 80s : waitresses, 15s to 20a; cooks, 25s to 40s; female do, 25a to 355; housemaids, 12s to 20s; general serrants, 10s to 14s ; nnrsejrtrls and boys, 7s to 15s paperhanger*, 9s 4d to 10s. Labouring men are plentiful; also a fair supply of good farm hands, Domrstic lei-rants are more rumerous, owing to the Exhibition. The demand is, however, not great for anyone.
