WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION.
The Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union met last night, and granted permission to the St. John's Club to present trophies to the best back and best forward in the first fifteen. With reference to a letter from the Athletic Park Company regarding the removal of the intercollege match—Christ's Collego y. Wollington College — from the Athletic Park to Petone on Saturday, 29th August, it was decided to reply that the Union was not responsible for the alteration, and if the company desired any further explanation it was referred to Mr. J. P. Firth, one of its own directors. A donation of £1 Is was made to the Schools Rugby Union. It was decided to enquire from the Manawatu Rugby Union as to whether it proposes to send & team to Wellington on Wednesday next.
The pieces of wreckage found on the beach at Hokitika have been identified by the master of the Moana as having formed the name-board on the stem of the barque Asia, which left Greymouth for Australia some weeks ago, and which has not, we believe, yet reached her destination. The •wreckage was brought to Wellington by th« Grafton last night, and is now to be seen tat the office ofrthe Marine Department.
