YESTERDAY'S SYDNEY FIRE.

♦ 10UE HUNDEED MEN THBOWN OUT OF WORK. [PBEBB ASSOCIATION.] Sydney, 17th June. The fire whioh occurred this morning destroyed two four-story buildings occupied by Jacobs & Co., clothing manufacturers (not Wallace & Co. as first cabled), and Edwards, tea merchant. The Brigade worked splendidly, and prevented a great conflagration. As it is 400 hands are thrown out of employment. The block in which the fire occurred was insured for £10,000, of ,which the New Zealand office has a line of £2000. Edwards's stock was insured for £1500 and Jacob's for £900, both in the New Zealand office. The origin of the outbreak is unknown.
