SWIMMING SPORTS.

The annual swimming sports of Wellington College were held at the Te Aro Baths yesterday. The water was smooth, but a cold southerly wind made matters unpleasant for competitors and friends. Most of the events were well contested, and there were some interesting finishes. Messrs. G. Hutohison (Hon. Sec ) and Bee had oharge of the arrangements, and were assisted by other members of the teaching staff. The following are the results :— 30yds Handicap (boys under 13).- C. Butt, 4seo, 1 ; G. Willeston, 2aec, 2 ; O. Freyberg, soratoh, 3. Seven started. Wen very easily. Time, 27sec. 220 yds Championship.— B. D. Hales, 1; E. Dodd, 2; O. F/eyberg-, 3. Five competed. Won by about 2yds, Dodd and Freyberg almost a dead heat for second place. Time, 4min. 160 yds Championship (boys under 15). — J. A. Strong, 1 ; O. Freyberg, 2 ; H. Cross, 3. Four started. Won easily by Byds, Freyberg leading Cross by 3yds for second place. Time, lmin 51sec. Long Dive. — J. Haselden, 1 ; M. Cameron, 2 ; C. J. Harvey, 3. 150 yds Open Handicap.— J. Stout, 7seo, 1; E. Dodd, sor, 2 ; Keade, ISseo, 3. Won by four yards. No time was taken. Diving for Plates.— X Dodd, 1 ; C. W Haselden, 2. Ten competed. 50yds (boys under 15).— F. Buddie, sseo, 1; J. A. Strong, 4seo, 2 ; N. Wilson, sseo, 3. A good race, and won with little to spare. Time, 42 2-ssec. 100 yds Open Handicap.— B. D. Hales, scr, 1 ; L. Manning, 4seo, 2 ; H. Cross, lOseo, 3. Won easily. Time, lmin 46 l-sseo. Neat Header.— A. B. Exley, 1; C. W. Haselden, 2. Rescue Bace.- L. Manning and C. Cathie, 1 ; K. Dodd and J. A Strong, 2 ; U. Gavin and A. M. Ihomson. This race caused great fun, and it was only won after a close contest. Time, 70 2-sseo. Consolation Eace, 55yds.— N. Wilecn, 4aeo, 1; O. Freyberg, soratoh, 2 ; C. W Haaelden, 3seo, 3.
