A fire at Onehunga destroyed the promises of Morton and Sons, general storekeepers, and M'Kenzie's house adjoining. Insurances — Morton's Btook, North German office, .£800 ; building and fittings, .£4OO, Manchester. M'Kenzie's honse, £210, North German; furniture, .£IBO, North! British. In his evidence in the Park oase at tbe Supreme Court, tho Taupo constable said it was a lie of the deepest dye to say that the look-up was in a filthy condition — an assertion whioh has reoeived wide publicity. Napier, 12th March. Captain Hughes, of the barquentine Glide, was to-day fined J825 and oosts for breaking the Real of bonded goods within prescribed limits. A similar polioy on the part of the British Government would be ruinous to the New Zealand export trade." Two men, named John Brodie and Thomas Farrell, have been eaoh fined .£3 and costs for falfiely representing themselves as travellers to the liceneoe of the Torminuß Hotel. This Day. In the oase of attempted embezzlement against Andrew Wedderapoon, late traveller for Briscoe & Co., the Justices failed to agree, one favouring a committal and the other acquittal. The Justices met this afternoon to consider how they should aot, but still oonld not agree, and adjourned the oase.
