SENSATIONAL STORY FROM ROME.
A sensational trial, which has excited much interest, was concluded on Bth October before the Rome Assize Court. A young man named Luigi Mandatori recently came to Home, and was received at the Monastery of 8. Praesede in order to go through his noviciate for the priesthood. After a time it was discovered that he had taken a young woman to his cell and kept her there for several days, and ho was consequently expelled from the monastery by Father Paganelli, the Superior. Mandatori was sent back by the police to Vallecorsa, his native place, but subsequently returned to Borne. On his arrival in the capital he procured a long knife, and, entering the monastery by night, made a furious attack upon Father Paganelli. The Superior waswounded in several places, but recovered in about ten days' time. Mandatori was arrested, and was, on Btb October, sentenced to five years' imprisonment for attempted homicide.
