THE MISSIONARY MARTYRS.
A lady missionary at present on furlough in London has furnished the following touching extract from a letter trom China : — " Mr. told us a little about the funeral. One large grave was dug, and in it the box with the bones and ashes of Mr and Mrs. Stewart were laid, and beside it Herbert's coffin. Then a long trench was made, and the coffins laid in order. Mr. Phillips chose texts for all. On Mr. and Mrs. Stewart's was ' They were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided :' on Miss Marshall's, ' He asked life, and Thou gayest it him, even length of days for ever and ever ;' on Miss E. M. Saunders', ' Jesus only ;' on Miss H. E. Saunders', 'They loved not their lives unto the death ;' on Lena's, the nurse, ' Faithful unto death ;' on Miss Stewart's, 'Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls;' on Miss Gordon's, ' Where I am there also shall My servant be;' on Miss Newcombe's, ' The Master is come, and calleth for thee.' »
