THE DRAINAGE WORKS FATALITY.
+ Charles Maohin, who was injured by a fall of earth in Mr. Allan Maguire's oontraot for the drainage works, died at the Hospital laßt night. The accident fractured deceased's spine, and the fraotured vertebra} were pressing npon the spinal cord, thus producing paralysis. By operation the f raoturod pieces were successfully removed, and all pressure removed from the spinal oord, with the result that Bensatiou was gradually restored aa far as the thighs. Unfortunately, on Thursday night Maohin beoame violently delirious, and subsequently exhaustion set in. His brothers were with him throughout. Deceased was a Victorian, and an athlete and cyoliat. The aooident ia likely to lead to litigation.
