The Catterthun Disaster. [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Sydney, 2nd September.
At the Catterthun enquiry a letter was read from Seal Rooks fishermen, stating that they had discovered reefs not marked on the chart in the vioinity of the wreck. Captain Hull said he did not believe in the discovery. The obarts were correct, and he was confident he had ascertained tho rock on whioh the steamer struck. A Chinese steward dop-iaed that he had supplied the ladies with life-bolts. Mr. Crane said ho saw the ladies when the wat«r in the saloon was abovo one's knees, and they had then no belts. He was confident that some had never j?ot any, though, when tho danger waa rea'isfd, everything possible was done. '1 hu officers, he thought, wore too long in realising that time was being wasted. Fully ten minutes elapsed after the vessel struok before the passengerß were called, and the ship foundered threo or four minutes afterwards.
