AUSTRALIAN. DEVASTATION BY BUSH FIRES. [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Sydney, 2nd September.
For 80 miles north of Dungog the country has beon swept by bush fired, and hundreds of cattle are being killed to save them from starvation, lhe Icse.-i in grass crops and fencing are enormous. In the Gloucester district a mob of 150 cattle were surrounded by fires and burned to death. The drover had to rako refuge iv the river to escape a similar fate. Six hhops have been destroy cd by fire at Cobar. (Reoeived September 3, 11 a m.) Melbourne. This Day. The Full Court has uphold the oonviction of the Abraham Broa. in connection with the Greener gun fraud cases, and held that there was no mis-trial through the absence of the defendants at certain stages.
