! » The Government inspeotion parade of the City Rifles, whioh took place last evening,, was well attended, 59 of all ranks being present under Captain Collins. After inspection by Lieut-Colonel NewaU the men were handed ovor to the District Instructor of Musketry, Sergt.-Major Finn, who kepfi them at arm drill for over an hour. At the olose Colonel Newall, in commending the corps for the capital master it always showed, remarked that he would duly reoord the faot that the Wellington City Bines was the first active volnnteer corps in the oolony to parade fully armed .with the MartiniHenry rifles. The new weapon added muoh to the appearanoe of th» company. Before being dismisted a meeting took place for the election of two delegates to the Wellington Bifle Volnnteer Association. Sergeant Jackson and Private W. Like were'unanimously chosen. The Captain notified that consequent on the DriUshed being let for the Thorridon carnival and fancy fair, there would be no'parode next Monday.
