With the view of preserving tho fast disappearing -types of native animals, birds, aud plants—especially kanßarooa and omns, few of whioh now remain in the oolony—the Zoological Sooiety is asking the Government to set aside an area of wild oountry on Wilson's Promontory for their conservation. The Government is favourable to the idea.
