Co. has received cable advice stating that the barque Excelsior will load at Newcastle for Wellington in about three weeks' time. The vessel is to be overhauled in Sydney for damage sustained during the recent voyage from Xsipora to that port Tho barque G. M. Tucker, from 3£dipara to Capetown, Dasied Thursday Island on 22nd July Messrs Lane and Brown, shipbuilders, of Total*, have just launched a new scow, without doubt ons of the finest in Now Zealand. She is built with three skins, (two diagonal and one lengthways), with sharp entrance and rounded bilges, and is particularly strong. Unlike most scows, she has a hold each side of tbe centreboard case, where she can stow timber of any length, thas increasing her stability. She is schooner Tigged, sits on the water like an ordinary roundbottomed craft, and has a carrying cacaoity of 100,000 ft of timber
