Wellington Amateur Athletic Club.

There was a larga attendance at the seventh annual meeting of tho Wellington Amateur Athletic Club in the Exchange Buildings last evening, Mr. H. D. Bell, M.H.R., President, being in tie chair. The annual report returned thanks to Mr. t. Tripp for a donation to the prize fund, to Jlr. X). Burnett for a special prize, and to all who assisted at the various fiituro3,'and reforred with regret to the death of Mr. H. Palmer. A ytrltit of tho balance-sheet has already been published. In moving the adoption of the report and balanoe-sheet, the President said unfortunately they bad not the pleasure this year, as last, of having the banner. Nevertheless, the olnb's representatives had got on very well at Napier, considering that it had not sent a very strong team. The olnb ought to feel satisfied with the way its members bad carried its colours at that gathering. He thought the balance-sheet must be regarded as satisfactory, as, in the first place, the olnb hod a balance at tho bank, and, in the second, it had no liabilities. He felt sure all members of tho olnb would refrrot the death of Mr. Palmer. Mr. C. A. Knapp seconded the motion. Mr. G. F. Wooldridge suggested that the club should take some steps to get an alteration of the regulation which prohibits policemen from taking part in athletio contests. He pointed out that Mr. M'Cormick had not been able to obtain leave for the last championship meeting. v Ihe President said that he had failed in his effort to get Mr. M'Cormick away, and he was afraid there was no hope of a Wellington member getting an alteration of the regulation, further efforts would, however, bo made to have the regulation altered. He would be glad to see a fair representation at the Chriatohureh meeting. The resignations of Messrs. T. D. Harman and G. Harris, as the clnb's delegates on the Counoil of the New Zealand Amatenr Athletic Association in Chrißtchuroh, were accepted, and a vote of thanks was passed to them for past services. For instance, he had acted aa President since the club's inauguration. The committee desired that he should again submit himself for reelection, and ha had yielded to the strong representations made, bnt at the same timo he thought members should consider other members who had served the club and who had a claim to tho Presidentship.
