The Management Committee of the Wellington Kugby Union met last evening, and passed the following resolution regarding the new case law :—": — " That this Union protests against the decision of the Appeal Committee of the New Zealand Union iareference to tbo interpretation of el&nse H, rule 11, as it is opposed to the laws of the same as made by the English Engby Union, under which the unions affiliated to the New Zealand Union are tupposed to play; this Union does not consider that tho decision of the Appeal Committee is an interpretation of the clause referred to, bat is a new i ale, and in passing it the 'Wellington Union is of tbe opinion that the Appeal Committee exceeded its powers; this Union also considers that it would be manifestly unfair to bring snch a rale into f oroe at suoh- a late Btage of the season, and considering the whole oiroumstanoes requests that the Appeal Committee be immediately asked to re consider its decision." The text of the deoiaion challenged ia as follows i — " When the ball ia in a scrummage every player except those in tbe Ecrummage mnst stand on his own side 'of a line drawn through tho centre of the BCrummage and at right angles with the touch-line ; otherwise he ehall be adjudged off-side. A half-back or other player outside the scrum putting or kicking the ball baok into a aornra after it has come out places his forwards off-side, and should be penalised under rule llr, if the act was intentional." Tho match between the Manawatu and Wellington junior representatives, which was to have been played to-morrow, has been abandoned. , ' A suggestion has been made by the Wellington Union that the North Island members of tho Appeal Committee — Messrs. The Wellington and Manawatn junior representative match having been abandoned, the junior representative jerseys will not be distributed tbis evening as intended. In consequence of the Manawatu junior representative team being unable to keep its engagement with a Wellington junior representative team a match is to be played between the Wellington- team and a oombined team of the Wednesday Half-holiday Club at Newtown Park to-morrow. Play will commence at 3 p.m., and the junior representatives will wear olub colours. The following will play for tho United Tradesmen against St. Patrick's College at Newtown Park to-morrow : — BiUman, Humphries, Warner, Swiney (2), Pike, Lambert, Whitworth (2), Slinn, Cheeseman, Johnson, Worth, Bead, Langh ton, Donald; emergenoiea. Boss and Turner. Pirates v. United Tradesmen, Newtown Park :- Pirates - Cimino, Burton, Driscoll, King (2), James, Spear, Steven, Bowman, Burnett, Kioholls, Muir, Martin, Forrest, Wilkinson ; emergencies, Pearoe and Whiteford. The following team will represent the Law in the match against the Insurance on Friday :— Freeth, Jackson, Dunne, Tringham, Baker, Curtis, Barnett, Eawson, Tattle, M'Kenzie, Tnokey, Moeller. Stafford, Hill, and Robinson ; emergenoy, Minifie. A matoh is to be played between the Wellington College and the Junior Representative Team on Saturday. It should be as | exciting contest.
