The Warrnambool incendiarists have confessed to having started lti firea, one of which oaußod a loss of .£BOO. In several cases where the fires did not burn pioperly the men returned to the promisee and relighted them. In order to prevent the possibility of the flamea being extinguished, they in one case locked the doors of the fire brigade station and threw the koya away. They mod to hide until a crowd gathered, and then mix among it. Campbell, one of those arrested, was enrolled as a member of the Vigilance Committee formed to capture the incondiariats. He said they had no object in burning down the buildings, but they had been drinking, and were imbued with a spirit of devilment.
